Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jeff Hartig, a beloved member of our community from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jeff left this world on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 66 years old.

Jeffery Lee Hartig was born on January 23, 1959, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to his devoted parents, Kenneth and Marjorie (Hagemeier) Hartig. He embraced his education in public schools and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1977, a proud moment that set the stage for the life he would create.

After graduating high school, Jeff embarked on a lifelong learning journey, earning his associate's degree in Welding and Metallurgy from SE Community College in Milford, Nebraska. He began his career as a welder and has dedicated himself to his role as a pipeline operator for the past 42 years, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and dedication.

On June 21, 1980, Jeff celebrated a beautiful union with the love of his life, Loraine A. Bellamy, in a heartfelt ceremony in Beatrice, Nebraska. Together, they built a warm and loving home, filled with joy and laughter, as they welcomed their two beloved children, Nicholas and Kristin. Family was the very heart of Jeff's existence; he cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in being a grandfather, finding boundless joy in every smile and giggle of his grandchildren. He had a deep love for fishing and hunting and relished attending his kids' hockey games. Jeff and Loraine also opened their home to Sioux Falls Stampede hockey players, fostering connections and creating cherished memories.

A devoted member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, Jeff found strength and solace in his faith and community, which were essential pillars that guided him throughout his life. His compassionate spirit and heartfelt dedication truly made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Loraine Hartig, who has been his partner in every sense of the word; his cherished children, Nicholas (Erika) Hartig of Sioux Falls and Kristin (Danny) Corey of Philadelphia, PA; and four dear grandchildren, Everly, Charlotte, and Conrad Corey of Philadelphia, and Audrey Hartig of Sioux Falls, who brought him so much happiness. Jeff is also survived by his two brothers, James (Cindy) Hartig and John Hartig both of Beatrice, NE; niece, Caley (Brent) Menke of Lincoln, NE; nephews, Dalton Hartig of Omaha, NE, Quintin Hartig of Beatrice, NE, and Collin Hartig of Beatrice, NE; mother-in-law, Sharon Bellamy; brother/sister-in-law, Kenton (Mary) Bellamy; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all whom remain a source of strength and love.

Jeff will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His parents, Kenneth and Marjorie Hartig, preceded him in death, whose love shaped him into the incredible man he became, and his father-in-law, Gailord Bellamy. May his memory be a comforting reminder of the countless lives he touched with his kindness and spirit.
