Obituary

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, our beloved wife, mom, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, and friend, Jennifer Whitcomb, left this earthly world. An unexpected medical tragedy took her from us at the young age of 42.

Born October 12, 1983, in Rapid City, SD, Jenn lived in Redwood Falls, MN, and Sioux Falls, SD, before her family settled in Madison SD, in 1993. She graduated early from Madison Central High School in 2001, attending the University of Sioux Falls starting in the spring of 2002.

Just before her senior year, Jenn reached out to her to-be-husband Justin, and the two started dating, getting engaged only a few months later. On August 16, 2003, they were married in Madison and then moved to Sioux Falls together to finish their degrees at USF. Jenn graduated in 2006 and began her career as a writer and editor with a marketing company in 2007.

In 2013, she began working for Avera Health as a grant writer, and in 2015, she started working for Zeurcher Technologies of Sioux Falls as a proposal writer. Through several acquisitions and promotions over the past 12 years, Jenn earned the title of Director, Proposals and Solutions Architecture, at Central Square Technologies, earning accolades and immense respect from her leadership and her teams.

In May of 2010, Jenn and Justin welcomed their first baby to the world. Over the next 16 years, they would welcome eight more children, filling their home with laughter, joy, and love on a daily basis. Their hands were always full, as they would hear many times when grocery shopping or playing at parks, but their hearts were always far more full.

More than anything, Jenn loved spending time with her family and friends, especially playing card games, spending weekends at Brandt Lake at her family’s cabin, and going to concerts with Justin and her kids, even wading through mud and rain at Lifelight several years. Jenn was passionate in her faith and love of Christ, serving moms, families, and her community through church and personal relationships. On any given day, you could find Jenn hugging and playing on the floor with her kids, helping them learn what it means to be kind, loving, strong, and confident. She built genuine relationships with everyone she met, always bringing joy and friendship to those around her.

Jenn leaves behind her devoted husband Justin, and their nine amazing children: Grayson (16), Isabella (15), Gibson (12), Emerson (9), Madelyn (7), Oliver (5), Gabriella (3), Milo (23 months), and Owen (4 months). She is also survived by her father Brad Uthe and stepmother Chel (Butler), her mother Kathy Uthe and stepfather Wayne (Mader), her brother Chris (Michelle) Uthe, her sister Ashley (Adam) Von Behren, her grandparents Loretta Uthe, and Verl (Opal) Uthe, her mother-in-law Della Whitcomb, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Harold and Margaret (Kramer) Weins, as well as her father-in-law Michael Whitcomb.
