Jill Elizabeth Mark, 55, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital after a very long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer.

Memorial Visitation with the family members to greet friends will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Monday, December 29 at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Jill Elizabeth Mark, daughter of Thomas W. and Valli M. (Oswald) Mark, was born on March 11th, 1970 in Cass Lake, Cass County, Minnesota. Tom and Valli adopted Jill from Children's Home Society in St.Paul, Minnesota on April 17th, 1970. The family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania shortly after her adoption and then to Hartford, Connecticut until 1974 where they returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota for Tom's work. They moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where Jill attended Roosevelt Elementary school, South Junior High and Washington High School until 11th grade when they moved back to Wayzata, Minnesota where Jill finished her Senior year at Wayzata High School where she graduated in 1988. She attended University of North Dakota for Psychology for a short time.

Jill had a love for makeup, skincare, and then her educational interests took her to Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, Minnesota at Aveda then continued Esthetics and Nail Technology at Stewarts School in Sioux Falls in 2015. She worked at JC Penny's in Minnetonka, Minnesota in Cosmetic Merchandising for 9 years, Smith Barney in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1992 until 1995 starting as a receptionist and became an Account Representative. Younkers/Dayton's as cosmetics manager in 2000-2005, long time employee at Spa2000 and opened her own business before she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Michael Carson and Jill Mark welcomed their daughter May 23, 2001 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and moved to Minneapolis shortly after. She always focused on bettering herself as a mother and went above and beyond when it came to providing for her.  Jill was always cheerful, laughing, and smiling, she was known for her bright red, pink, or purple lipstick and wearing her pearls and diamond earrings. She was always a creative person and painted and drew all the time. Towards the end she would paint pictures and cards for her friends and family. She loved sunny days, especially pool days with her daughter. On their pool days they would start out by going to Ziggi's to get drinks, and would read by the pool, float, and tan.

Jill was an avid lover of animals and had two fur-babies Moosh and Meow meow; she shared with Madison. They would go on spontaneous road-trips back to Minneapolis to see friends and explore. On rainy days she was always watching movies and an avid reader or listening to music.

Jill was Baptized and Confirmed in the Episcopal Church and was involved growing up, she always aligned her beliefs of loving one another, always helping others who are in need, and always being nice to others and killing them with kindness even if they aren't nice back. She passed that onto her daughter and ensured she was raised with those same beliefs.

Grateful for having shared her life are her mother, Valli Mark of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter, Madison Mark-Carson, their two fur-babies Meow Meow (Chubbos) and Moosh Moosh (Peanut Butter) All of Sioux Falls; Madison's father; Michael (Jennie) Carson and their daughter Alyssa Carson, of Brandon, South Dakota; her aunts and uncles, Liz Stearn of Mesa, Arizona, Glenda (Chuck) Carrier, of Gilbert, Arizona, Rosalie (Oswald) Schmidt, of Florida, Rod (Bev) Oswald, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Torrie (Suzie) Oswald, of Chaska, Minnesota; and several cousins, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Mark; her grandparents, Simon & Ruth Mark, and Eddie & Beth Oswald; her uncles, Dr. Peter Mark and Tim Stearn; her two cats Fred & Jazzy; and her parents' dogs, Cleo & Heidi.

Jill will always be remembered for her contagious laugh, her bright smile, her bright lipstick and pearls.
