Joann Colleen Streich , age 75, died peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Monument Health Hospice House in Rapid City, following a brief illness.

A memorial ceremony and reception will take place on Monday, March 23, at 1:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home in downtown Sioux Falls.

Joann Colleen Westcott was born April 24, 1950, in Miller, SD to Merle and Ruth (Goehring) Westcott. Joann spent her childhood growing up alongside her brother, Gary, in Holabird, SD. Upon graduating, Joann moved to Sioux Falls, where she met Roger Streich. Jo and Roger fell in love and were married on June 1, 1969, and after living briefly in Morris, MN, they made their life in Sioux Falls.

Together, Joann and Roger built many successful businesses, including Midwest Tropicals, Sealife Inc, MidCity Storage, Midwest Coins and Canterbury Village. Joann and Roger supported each other unfailingly in all of their business endeavors and were continuously by each other's side.

Joann and Roger were passionate about everything in their lives, from family and friends, to business and hobbies, some of which were anything to do with the outdoors, to collecting coins and classic cars. Many an awesome afternoon was spent with friends and family caravanning cars to area car shows. Their love of gathering people together was also evident in all of the epic Christmas parties and rollicking fish fries they hosted.

Some of Joann's most treasured memories are the years spent summering in Canada and the lifelong friendships and memories made with the gang, countless fishing trips with family and friends to places both near and far, and endless adventures on the four-wheelers.

When it came to the outdoors, Jo was all in, whether pitching in to bait the hook and clean the fish, to taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan grizzly bear hunt with Rog, to filling the yard with flowers or exploring every four-wheel trail in the Black Hills.

After Roger's passing in 2012, Joann took pride in keeping their business ventures thriving. In recent years, Joann, along with her precious fur-babies, Bailey and Peaches, enjoyed their time wintering in Arizona. Joann also found joy and solace in the Black Hills, eventually selling her Sioux Falls home to make her cabin near Deerfield Lake her primary residence.  More times than one could count, Jo would load Bailey and Peach on the four-wheeler, and the three of them would explore trails for hours on end. Joann also took immense pleasure in the quiet beauty of the Hills. She loved to savor a gorgeous sunrise or sunset and found tremendous happiness in watching and feeding the deer, turkeys, and birds near her home. Jo said one of the most amazing things she ever saw was a baby fawn being born right near her deck.

Joann's family are deeply appreciative of and would like to thank the special people who helped make Jo and her pup's transition and time at the Holiday Hills apartment possible, as well as thank the compassionate caregivers at Monument Hospice House.

Grateful for having been a part of Joann's world are her nephews Brad (Tami) Streich and Scott (Angie) Streich, niece Lori Streich and her son Nathan (Mandy) Streich, niece Roxane (Vic) Cuccia and their children Victor, Karis & Jonathan, niece Lisa (Craig Carnelia) Brescia, nieces and nephew Michele Jesse, Jenny Coffield and Ted Coffield, sister-in-law Sara Streich, as well as a circle of close and lifelong friends.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Ruth Westcott,  loving husband, Roger Streich, brother, Gary Eisland and Gary's wife Sharon, brothers-in-law Robert (Bob) Streich and Ronald (Ron) Streich, sister-in-law, Linda (Streich) Coffield and Linda's husband Tom , a nephew, Michael Streich and her pups Duffy, Dusty, Punkin and Patches, who truly were Joann's children.

In lieu of flowers, Joann requests that memorial donations be made to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
