Obituary

John Earl Jastram, 72, passed from this world February 3rd, 2025. John was born in Sioux Falls, SD January 28th, 1953 to Roy and Lorraine (Harden) Jastram. John spent his childhood years in the Hartford area on the family farm as well as Sioux Falls. He graduated from Washington High School in 1971. Following high school, he attended the University of South Dakota.

John was a talented contractor known for his ability to solve problems and to "make it work". Aside from his work in the construction field, he built architectural models with his business partner and life long friend John Henry Peters, of Sioux Falls. Together they made many models of notable buildings which helped shape the urban landscape of Sioux Falls. John was also an accomplished sculptural artist. He was selected for the first annual Sioux Falls ScluptureWalk with his sculpture "Spirit of the Falls", now in a private collection. Additionally, he has two other public sculptures of note. "The Fabric of Law" currently located in front of the Minnehaha County courthouse, Sioux Falls, as well as "Life in God's Image" currently located at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed camping and fly fishing with his son Micah in western South Dakota as well as in the pristine forests and waters of northern Wyoming. There he drew inspiration for two-dimensional watercolor pieces which he created over the years.

John's lightheartedness, loyalty to his very close friend group, and his creative mind will be deeply missed by many.

John is survived by his son Micah (Lindsey McCann) Jastram, Bozeman. Three Siblings Jerry (Karen) Jastram, Brookings, Joe (Judy) Jastram, Sioux Falls, and Mary (Bob) Pottratz, Sioux Falls.
