Joyce Ann Townsend passed away peacefully at Bethany Home Brandon on June 27, 2026.

Joyce Ann Underberg was born on April 26th, 1944, in Estelline, SD to Matt and Alma Underberg.

Joyce spent many years doing in-home daycare. She also worked at Bethany Home Sioux Falls for 12 years in the kitchen and Rosie's Café. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She enjoyed oldies music and dancing in her spare time.

Joyce is survived by her 5 children, Robert (Amy) Underberg Sioux Falls, SD; Christi (Ralph) Green, FL; Joni Pesicka, Sioux Falls, SD; Karen Pesicka, Sioux Falls, SD; Lynette Grandison, Sioux Falls, SD; and a bonus daughter Deb Underberg, Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Rita Kaffer and Jane Hoffman.

Proceeding Joyce in death are her parents, Matt and Alma Underberg; and her siblings, Alice Van Vooren, Tony Underberg, Mary Jean Zeiner, Sonny Underberg and Donnie Underberg.

Joyce was well loved and cared for by the staff at Bethany Home Brandon and the Avera @ Home Hospice team.

A celebration of life will be held on July 12th, 2026 from 1:00pm -3:00pm at Bethany Home in Brandon, SD. Located at 3008 E Aspen Blvd, Brandon, SD 57005
