"Hello, I'm Judy." This is how Judy introduced herself to anyone she met; always on a first name basis, always cheerful, charming and friendly. Judith Ann Bryant was born on June 27, 1941 in Bokoshe, Okla., to Robert Self and Audrey Sutton. She passed away on Sept. 18, 2024 at 83 years-old.

Judy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Bryant of Sioux Falls, and her beloved cat, George. She was preceded in death by husband Phillip Wayne Bryant and daughter Julie Ann Bryant. In lieu of a formal service, her family chose to honor her wish that her ashes be spread with her daughter's in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Judy knew many places in her life, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Georgia and Illinois. She enjoyed everywhere she lived, and delved into the histories of each place she lived. She was very proud of her Oklahoma roots, and thought dearly of Bokoshe, as it featured prominently as her username.

An original locavore and an excellent cook, Judy continuously searched for, ate and served local produce and products, and no cooking technique or cuisine ever intimidated her. The same went for crafts. She was accomplished at cross-stitch, quilting, and in her earlier years, painting. Judy was, in turn, a homemaker, banker, den mother, welcome wagon hostess, caretaker, and friend to human and animal alike.

Many carry burdens, never revealed, throughout their lives. Judy carried hers with grace, quiet strength and a stout resiliency. She's now relieved of these burdens forevermore. She also shared a singular devotion and compassion for the ones she loved. Her kindness, gentle humor and wisdom will be missed by many.
