Judith "Judy"
Hanlon Mccabe
Oct 20, 1944 — Nov 12, 2025
Sioux Falls
Judith "Judy" McCabe, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away November 12, 2025 in Sioux Falls SD with her family by her side, she was 81 years old.
Judy was born in Burlington, Vermont to John and Mary (Wright) Hanlon on October 20, 1944. As a young child, Judy would say "Fun, Mommy!" Fun was the hallmark of her life, she made everything fun and loved parties.
She graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1964 and after a brief stint at Allegany Tech started working at the Buffalo Bills as secretary to the general manger and head coach. It was there she met her husband and love of her life, Richard "Richie" McCabe. They married on April 20, 1968 in Buffalo, New York. Richie's career took them to Oakland, California, where her daughter Kelly was born and then to Cleveland, Ohio where her younger daughter Erin was born. She moved back to Buffalo, New York – two of the best year's she'd often say – and then to Denver, Colorado. After Richie's untimely death she moved to Minnetonka, Minnesota.
She loved God, the United States of American and her family. She helped to start the Lake Minnetonka DAR Chapter and served as Regent. She was an active member in the DAR chapter in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a member of PEO and attended Saint Mary Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. She volunteered for the Republican party and enjoyed gardening, bible study, and socializing. Most of all she loved her family and caring for them.
She is survived by daughters Kelly (Todd) Schnell, Edina MN; Erin (Chris) Stanton, Sioux Falls SD. Grandchildren, Sydney and Shelby Schnell, and William and Joseph Stanton; sister Barbra Wilson and half-sister Martha Hanlon. Nieces and nephews, Donna Dorning, Paul Cessar, Margaret Brey, Susan Cessar, Mary Jo Rose, Jane Paul, Tom Cessar, Joseph McCabe, Julie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, Jody Hyducky. She was preceded in death by, husband Richard McCabe and daughter Bridgit McCabe; mother Mary Hanlon and father John Hanlon.
