Kathleen "Kathy"
Ann Brummond
Nov 13, 1948 — Jun 26, 2026
Sioux Falls
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Kathleen Ann Brummond's passing, which occurred on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the comfort of her own home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Kathy was 77 years old, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kathleen Ann Jerentowski was born on November 13, 1948, to Leslie and Virginia (Kayser) Jerentowski in Rapid City, South Dakota. She grew up in Sioux Falls, where she graduated from O'Gorman High School in 1967. It was in this vibrant community that she met her future husband, Steve, and together they embarked on a journey that began in Denver while Steve pursued his art education. This time also brought them their beloved son, Ty.
On January 11, 1969, Kathleen exchanged vows with Steven Brummond at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls, surrounded by friends and family who celebrated their love. After completing art school, the couple moved back to Sioux Falls, where they eventually welcomed their cherished daughter, Eve.
Kathy dedicated over 20 years of her career to First National Bank as a loan assistant before enjoying a well-deserved retirement. This new chapter allowed her and Steve to travel extensively, creating beautiful memories together as they explored the country and other parts of the world. In her leisure time, Kathy found joy in gardening, cooking, listening to music, and dancing—activities that brought her immense happiness.
Kathy's loving spirit will be cherished by her devoted husband of 57 years, Steve Brummond, and her two children, Ty Brummond of Sioux Falls and Eve Brummond of Portland, OR. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: her brother, John (Carolyn) Jerentowski of Ephrata, WA, and her sister, Debra (Jeff Halash) Jerentowski of Maricopa, AZ.
Kathy is now reunited with her parents, Leslie and Virginia Jerentowski, along with her brothers, Stephen and William Jerentowski, and her sister, Sharon Weber, who had all gone before her.
A visitation for family and friends to honor Kathy's life will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home – downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. During this time, we invite all who loved her to share in their memories and support one another as we celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
