With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathryn (Kathy) Mah on February 27, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Kathy's life was one of dedication, faith, music, and service to her community.

A service celebrating Kathy's life will be held at 10:00 AM on March 13, 2025—her 87th birthday—at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2425 S Western Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57105. Pastor Sara Nelson of First United Methodist Church officiating.

Born on March 13, 1938, Kathy graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Music, a passion that shaped her lifelong commitment to teaching and performing. She was deeply involved in her community, both in Korea and the United States, serving as a church organist, children's choir director, Sunday school teacher, and women's ensemble leader. For 25 years, she nurtured a love of music in countless students as a private piano instructor. Her own beautiful voice graced numerous musical ensembles, including the Middle Border Chorus, Dakota Chorale, Madrigal productions, the South Dakota Symphony Chorus, and her cherished United Methodist Church choir.

While living in Mitchell, SD, Kathy extended herself to serving others beyond music, becoming an active leader in her community. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards of the YWCA, Habitat for Humanity, Wesley Acres, the Concert Series, and the Board of Trustees for the South Dakota United Methodist Church Conference.

In addition to her contributions to music and community, Kathy built a remarkable career in real estate, working tirelessly for 26 years to help families find not just houses, but homes. She was ranked 1st in sales in a four-state region in 1999 while with Century 21 and received the prestigious Centurion Award for 15 consecutive years. Her excellence in the field earned her a place in the Century 21 Regional Hall of Fame in 1996, and she was recognized in America's Most Referred Real Estate Agents. After moving to Sioux Falls, SD, she joined Ameri-Star Real Estate Company, where she continued to serve her clients with dedication and care.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, generosity, and music. She is survived by her loving husband, David; her daughter Christine (son-in-law Pete); her sons Paul (daughter-in-law Twyla) and John (daughter-in-law Tessa); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ahnja Sung.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or the South Dakota Parkinson Foundation in honor of Kathy's strength and resilience.

Kathy's music, kindness, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
