Kathy Lynn
King
Jul 18, 1959 — Jan 5, 2025
Sioux Falls
Kathy Lynn King passed away on January 5, 2025, in Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral services with a time for sharing will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 507 S. Main Avenue—light refreshments following the services.
Kathy was born July 18, 1959, in Minnesota. When Kathy was a few months old, she was adopted by her parents, Paul and Margaret King. Her earliest years were spent in Aberdeen, SD, and she later moved to Minot, ND, where she graduated high school. Kathy spent her early adulthood in Minot, ND, before moving to Sioux Falls, SD.
In 2007, Kathy met the love of her life, Tony Burroughs, and married in 2011. The couple traveled the country together, leaving only three states left unseen. Kathy was always ready to travel anywhere it was warm. She and Tony traveled to countless beaches, getting close to alligators, whales, and dolphins. Being avid Minnesota Twins fans, they traveled to other stadiums to cheer on their team, always stopping to enjoy the city's attractions. Kathy and Tony traveled to many NASCAR races, museums, National monuments, and landmarks such as Red Wood Forest, Mt. Vernon, Tennessee Smokey Mountains, Mackinac Island, and Carlsbad Caverns. By far, Kathy's favorite vacation was sitting on the patio, looking at the ocean with the love of her life and a margarita in hand.
Kathy loved all animals. She grew up with horses and loved cats, wishing she could adopt them all. Kathy never gave up the chance to have a good steak or some ribs, sometimes changing the route to get some authentic BBQ Memphis ribs. She also made sure to take trips with her grandkids to SeaWorld, Disney World, and the space center. Kathy lived life to the fullest and was a friend to everyone she met. Her friends were very important to her, and she made sure to spend as much time as she could with them.
Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Tony Burroughs; sister, Lori (TJ) Bartelt; nephew, Zachary (Becca) McLaughlin; aunt, Betty Murphy; step-children, Maranda (Austin) Harrison, Brian (Alex) Burroughs, Keilani Burroughs, and Leilani McGhee; grandchildren, Sophia, Araya, Lincoln, Gavin, Payton, Amaya, Ashton, Joaquin, Delia, Raeli, and Dominic; many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Margaret King, and step-son, Andrew Burroughs.
