Kim Janell
Moser
May 23, 1958 — May 19, 2026
Sioux Falls
Kim Moser, Sioux Falls, SD., passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, under hospice care at Sanford Ava's House in Sioux Falls. She was 67.
Kim Janell (Gran) Moser was born in Sioux Falls, SD, on May 23, 1958, to Curtis and Arlene (Almhjeld) Gran. She attended Sioux Falls public schools and graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1977.
Kim married the love of her life, Stuart "Stu" Moser, on November 22, 1980, in Sioux Falls. Together, they established a home in Sioux Falls, where Kim initially operated an in-home daycare before transitioning into roles with Sanford Hospital, Formatop, and CCL Label. In 2003, she began her career with Cimarron Label as a rewinder. She retired in 2023.
Kim and Stu spent many summer days and nights camping and fishing at Ft. Thompson. An exceptionally skilled angler, she took great (and frequent) delight in out-fishing Stu, famously landing four walleyes over twenty inches—including a legendary 28 1/4-inch catch.
When the family wasn't fishing or camping, they were on motorcycles. One trip that was special to them was taking Highway 1 from California to Washington State. Other trips included a beautiful trip to Arizona and New Mexico, a trip to the Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island, and a special trip following the Mississippi River from Iowa to New Orleans. Kim's most memorable journey was conquering "The Tail of the Dragon," navigating its 318 curves with the same tenacity she brought to every aspect of her life.
Beneath her tough, resilient exterior was a woman of immense kindness and an outgoing heart. Whether she was with her family or her cherished close circle of girlfriends, Kim was defined by her constant smile and her ability to make those around her feel at ease. She had a gift of always bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. A proud mother and grandmother, she would never miss an opportunity to brag about her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Stuart Moser, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Samantha (Matt) Poss, Sioux Falls, SD, Lynzee (Jesse) Davey, Crooks, SD; grandchildren, Izzy Davey, Kadence Davey, Max Poss, Baylee Poss; her mother, Arlene Gran; brother, Jeff (Jan) Gran; sister, Pam Gran, mother-in-law, Mille Moser, and her four-legged little buddy, "Opie." She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Gran, and her father-in-law, Gene Moser.
A Celebration of Life event will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Winter-Green Event Venue, 100 Spruce Dr, Crooks, SD.
