Larry Albers died October 19, 2025 at Sanford Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD, with loved ones by his side. He was 72.

A public Masonic Service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

Larry Marvin Albers was born September 29, 1953, in Sauk Centre, MN, to Marvin and June (Olson) Albers. He attended school in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, SD, before studying mechanical drafting at Southeast Area Vo-Tech (now Southeast Technical College). A very talented artist, he eventually started a long tenure at Central Duplicating with the State of South Dakota in Pierre, SD, as a graphic designer and bindery operator in 1984. He retired in 2019.

Larry married Michelle Willems and they had two daughters together before later divorcing.

Larry was active with the Pierre Masonic Lodge and served as a Senior Deacon in 1989. He also enjoyed playing softball, darts, pool, and was an avid outdoorsman often hunting and fishing. He loved all nature, and frequently found peace simply sitting by a river. Larry was also a talented artist, often drawing portraits for friends and family, sketching in birthday cards, and creating one-of-a-kind art by hand.

He is survived by his father Marvin Albers, Hills, MN; daughters Abigail Albers, Ft. Pierre, SD, and Lucinda Albers, Oklahoma City, OK; grandson Marvin Albers, Oklahoma City, OK; brothers Terry (Cheryl) Albers, Villard, MN and Lonnie (Anne) Albers, Sioux Falls, SD; special cousin Dawn Madigan (Sioux Falls) as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother June Albers, sister Cheryl Pavel, and brother-in-law Rich Pavel.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks you to consider donating to the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation to continue to preserve the land he so loved.
