Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Rabenberg, who gently departed this life on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Sanford Foundation Cottage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Larry was surrounded by the love of his family in his final moments. He was 82 years old.

A heartfelt funeral service in honor of Larry's life will take place at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with a visitation starting at 10:30 AM. The service will be held at Miller Funeral Home – downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Please join us as we celebrate the cherished memories of a wonderful man.

Born on September 15, 1943, Larry was the son of Thomas and Freda (Gunderson) Rabenberg. He was born at home in Wall Lake, South Dakota, and graduated from Parker High School in 1961. In 1965, Larry welcomed his first son, James.

Larry worked various jobs before starting his career at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Sioux Falls. Larry went on to spend the next 50 plus years working there and truly loved all the positions he held. He was proud to be known as the neighborhood "Pepsi" man.

Larry met Mabel "May" Gilbertson while working at Pepsi, and they were united in marriage on May 1st, 1970. They would spend the next almost 50 years traveling together, bowling, and raising their family. They were blessed with three children: Robert, Lisa and Glenda.

Family meant everything to Larry. He cherished the time he spent with his loved ones and created lasting memories. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, traveling with his siblings, and coaching softball and baseball teams.

Larry is survived by his children, Robert Rabenberg, Lisa (Chris) Amundson, and Glenda (Tony Brandt) Rabenberg; six grandchildren, Zachary, Grace, Dustin, Nathan, McKenzie, and Esther; and one great-grandchild, Harper. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Leesa Rabenberg; brothers, Robert, Ronald, David, and Marlin (Dianne); and sister, Delores (Herb) Kimball.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, May Rabenberg; his parents, Thomas and Freda Rabenberg; his brother, Dean Rabenberg; his sister, Beverly Ann Rogers; his son, James Rabenberg; and his sisters-in-law, Colleen and Bonnie Rabenberg.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, with a visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home – downtown, 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
