Laurel (Laurie) Ann Eide went home to Jesus on Sunday, October 20th, 2024. Close family and friends surrounded her at the Ava House, in Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of Laurie's life will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Laurel Ridge Barn, 47675 Slip Up Creek Rd, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.

Laurie was born to John and Ines Evans on July 19, 1956, in Worthington, MN. The youngest of five children, Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ines, her brother Lyndon Evan, his wife Jean Evans and a great-niece Liliana Joy Passmore. Laurie is survived by her husband, Bruce Eide, her siblings, Dell Evans (Carole), Jeanie Swartzendruber (Tony) and Byron Evans, first husband, Robert (Bob) Benstead, daughters; Rebecca and Lynne Benstead, and grandson, Jakob A Erickson plus many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Laurie's first marriage was to high school sweetheart, Bob Benstead on June 7, 1975, in Worthington, MN. They stayed friends and part of each other's lives, even after marriage.

Laurie was joined in marriage to her best friend, Bruce Eide on February 14, 1999. Together, they enjoyed traveling, house hunting, and being with family.

Laurie was a devoted mom. Her daughters, Rebecca and Lynne, were a constant source of love and joy. However, Laurie's best pal was Jakob Avery, her loving grandson. Jake described his Gramma as "his very favorite human". They spent countless hours under the bed covers fighting the zombies together, and watching Scooby Doo.

Laurie was a decorator at heart. Her creativity, imagination, and eye for detail brought houses to life and smiles on the faces of all who encountered her gifts. Laurie loved shopping at consignment shops and thrift stores. She kept in touch with a small circle of friends, to who she was, fiercely loyal. She loved, and lived, a private life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed toward your local Humane Society. In her last days, the compassionate care at Ava's House, 1320 W. 17th St, Sioux Falls, SD, 57104, was life-giving, humane, and supportive. To remember Laurie with a donation to Ava's house or your local hospice would be welcomed.
