Leroy Albert Hoefert, a kind-hearted and adventurous man who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he met, passed away peacefully at Dougherty Hospice on April 27, 2025. He was 89.

Born in Hartford, SD, to Albert and Mabel (Swenson) Hoefert, Leroy grew up in Sioux Falls, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for life. From delivering papers to working at Horwitz Jewelry, Leroy's curiosity and enthusiasm drove him to explore various interests. His love for motorcycles began at a young age and remained a lifelong passion, bringing joy and camaraderie with friends and family.

Leroy's service in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 showcased his dedication and patriotism. His marriage to Donna Hoier in 1957 marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would span over 67 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Throughout his career, Leroy worked with various businesses, including Larsheid Ford-Lincoln dealership, and later, maintained partnerships in Flame Service, and Oakleaf Salvage. Later in life, he worked with Nordstrom Auto, hauling automobiles throughout the area. He retired in October 2012. His hands-on skills and problem-solving abilities made him a valuable asset to his employers and a trusted friend to those in need.

Leroy's family was his rock, and he cherished every moment spent with them. From vacations to California to the annual Sturgis motorcycle rallies, Leroy and Donna's adventures were filled with joy and friendship. Their cabin at Oakwood Lake, built by Leroy's own hands, was a testament to his creativity and love for the outdoors. A life well lived, Leroy could fix almost anything, and his willingness to help those in need earned him countless friends. His kind heart, generosity, and non-judgmental spirit inspired everyone around him.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Donna; sons Dale (Sharon) Hoefert and Greg Hoefert; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother Don Hoefert. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Ramm; granddaughter, Stephanie Hoefert-Thompson; and a daughter-in-law, Julia Hoefert.

He will be deeply missed by his family and the community that came to know and love him.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
