Linda Maxine Anderson, age 82, of Hartford, South Dakota, passed away on August 16, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

Linda was born September 17, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Arnold and Fern (Wenk) Lowe. She graduated from Washington High School in 1965, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Sioux Falls College in 1970.

Linda worked at Citibank for 35 years. Throughout her career, Linda treasured the people she met and maintained many of those friendships well into retirement.

On June 29, 1970, Linda married Lamont Cole. Their son, Oak Cole, was born on August 16, 1976. Linda and Lamont later divorced.

Linda married James Anderson on May 21, 1996, in Sioux Falls. Through their marriage, she welcomed James’ sons, Niall and Evan, into her family, and Linda and James made their home in Hartford.

Linda was a lifelong learner with a deep love of reading. Her favorites included the Bible, Christian Devotionals, and novels. Her faith in God was an important part of her life, so much so that she once chose LIV4GOD for her license plate.

She loved nature, especially gardening, flowers, animals, and birdwatching. Linda and James enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest and visiting local birdwatching spots together. She also enjoyed helping manage the family farm with her sister, Shirley, and treasured time with her dogs, Woody and Dalai.

Linda will be remembered for her kind, calm, and gentle spirit and for the way she made others feel loved, valued, and cared for.

She is survived by her husband, James Anderson of Hartford, SD; her step-sons, Niall (Andrea) Anderson of Mountain Lake, MN, and Evan (Molly) Anderson of Minnesota; her grandchildren, Kadyn, Jessica, Lewis, and Maple; her great-grandson, Nolan; her sister, Shirley (Tom) Haisch of Orlando, FL; and nieces, Jocelyn (Mark Linn) Haisch-Linn and their daughter Glynaedina Haisch-Linn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at (time pending) on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home in Hartford, SD. Linda was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
