Lois Ross Larsen-DeVries was born September 1, 1936 in Rapid City, SD to Lon and Lela Ross into a family of two teenage brothers, Charle and James.

Shortly after her birth the family moved to the Sioux Falls/Harrisburg area. She attended school in Sioux Falls, graduating from Washington High School in 1955.

She married Joe Larsen in 1956. Lois and Joe had five children, Joe, Lon, Ann, Lori, and Tim. Joe and Lois were together for 37 years before Joe passed away in 1993. Lois was a nurse for McKennan/Avera Hospital for over 40 years.

In 2009, Lois married Tom DeVries. They had been classmates at Washington. Tom and Lois enjoyed traveling, spending a few months during the winter in Texas. While in Texas they enjoyed riding motorcycles with a group of friends. Tom died in 2016.

Lois is survived by her children; Joe (Donna) Crooks, SD, Lon (Amy) Sioux Falls, Ann (Tim) Haight, Sioux Falls, Lori (Dave) Brende, Centerville, SD, Tim (Julie) Baltic, SD; step-children Scott DeVries, Sioux Falls, Pam DeVries, Sioux Falls, Andy (Amber) Sioux Falls, Paula (John) Goettsch, Silverhill, AL; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Joe Larsen and Tom DeVries, brothers Charles and James, and many other relatives.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 South Main Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with burial at St. Michael Cemetery.
