Lori Slagle passed away on October 6th, 2024 at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minnesota with her son by her side. She was 66 years old.

Lori Lea (Orcutt) Slagle was born on September 25, 1958 in Sioux Falls, SD to Vincent and Lois (Berry) Orcutt. She graduated from West Central High School in 1976, and attended University of South Dakota during 1976-1977. During her time in high school, she was a cheerleader, trumpet player in band from grade school through high school, and an accomplished chorus soprano singer; she attended All-State Chorus in 1975.

Following her schooling, she was the talented lead singer and trumpet player in a traveling band for 3 years. She moved to southern California and began working as a bookkeeper in the entertainment industry. It was in Santa Monica where Lori met her husband Eric Slagle. They were married from 1992 to 1999. Shortly after, in 2001 she birthed Brook Slagle, her only son.

In 2012, she moved back to Sioux Falls and would reside near Sioux Falls for the rest her of life. She dedicated her life to her son, and saw him graduate high school from West Central and college from Dakota State University.

Lori shared a passion for western films with her mother, Lois. Lori also enjoyed completing puzzles, and bowling with her friends at the Sport Bowl in Sioux Falls—she might not have always won, but she certainly won by sharing laughs with everyone. She was always crafty, whether it was making home decor, or refurbishing furniture. She also loved to travel and camp. Lori particularly loved a trip with her son, and her son's partner to the Black Hills in July of 2024. The trip had been a long awaited trip, and together they all made lifelong memories.

In 2001 she was blessed with the birth of her only child, a son, Brook Slagle. He resides in Lincoln, Nebraska with his partner Claira Monroe. Lori was proceeded in death by her parents.

Memorials are to be made to her son, Brook Slagle, in care of the Miller Funeral Home at 507 South Main Avenue.
