Lorraine Young Snyders, age 91, passed away peacefully October 19, 2026 at Avera Hospital.

Lorraine was born August 16, 1935, in Perham, Minnesota to Roy Hauk and Lillian (Freemark) Hauk. Lorraine grew up in Sioux Falls, where she graduated from Cathedral High School.

Lorraine worked at Sanford Hospital in Medical Records for 35 years until she retired in September of 2019.

Lorraine enjoyed shopping, sewing, and swimming with a group of friends at her apartment building.

Lorraine married her high school sweetheart, Paul Young, in 1956 and they raised 8 children together. After his death she remarried James Snyders in 2000.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Young, one son, Kevin Young, her second husband, Jim Snyders, and her three siblings, Mary Lou DeRue, Betty Natz, and Bert Hauk.

She leaves behind her children, Teresa (Jeff) Bard of Sioux Falls, Richard (Carol) Young of Sioux Falls, Mary (Darren) Chester of Sioux Falls, Dan (Barb) Young of Sioux Falls, Greg (Tammy) Young of Sioux Falls, Karen (Mark) Hofer of Tea, SD, Stacy (Lyle) Olesen of Madison, SD; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation, with family present, will be held at Miller Funeral Home Downtown Chapel (507 S Main Ave) in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10:00am at Miller Funeral Home Downtown Chapel (507 S Main Ave) in Sioux Falls, SD.
