Obituary

Lyle Kranzler died peacefully in his home on February 6th, 2025, in Sioux Falls, SD with his wife by his side. He was 90 years old.

Lyle Paul Kranzler was born August 8th, 1934, in McPherson County, SD to Paul and Emma (Job) Kranzler. He attended Northern State University and completed Java Telegraphy School. Lyle was drafted in 1957 and served in the United States Army for two years at both Fort Ord and Presidio Army Bases in California. He worked for the railroad for 10 years before joining Midland National Life Insurance Company. He began his Midland career in Watertown and transferred with the company to Sioux Falls. He was with Midland for over 50 years, fully retiring in 2020.

Lyle married his sweetheart, Kay Lea Raap, on November 25th, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Groton, SD. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary and have shared over 70 years together. He had many hobbies including woodworking, lawn care, polishing his Corvettes, remodeling, and spoiling the neighbor kids.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law: Laurel (Robert) Kost, Fort Collins, CO; Allana Novotny, Wisner, NE; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Carol) Raap, Andover, SD; Tom Raap, Sioux Falls, SD, several nieces, nephews and friends

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, infant brother, and in-laws: Ray and Pat Lackey, Bert and Darlene Raap, Chuck and LaVonne Raap, John and Joan Van Dyke, Frank Novotny, and Steven Raap.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sanford Cancer Center – Sioux Falls or to the Avera Race Against Cancer.

No funeral services will be held.
