Mable Underwood, age 91, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on April 7, 1933, to Daniel and Martha (Ensz) Ortman in Marion, SD.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel. Interment will be held at West Vermillion Cemetery in Marion, SD.

Mable graduated from a small country high school in Marion, South Dakota. She married Elmer F. Underwood in Marion on November 21, 1959. They were blessed with two children, Tim and Jane. Mable found joy in caring for her children and later grandchildren at home while Elmer worked. In 1959, they moved from Marion to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mable had a variety of hobbies, including reading, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, and reading her Bible.

Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Timothy Underwood and Jane Weidendorf; three grandchildren, Dan Underwood, Heather (Caleb) Wynia, and Heidi Weidendorf; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Raelynn Underwood and Marcus Wynia; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers James, Jesse, and Harley (Irene).
