Mac Hasvold, 93, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at First Lutheran Church, with a visitation beginning one hour prior.

Malcolm (Mac) was born on August 16, 1932, in Flandreau, South Dakota, to Malcolm and Myrtle Hasvold. Mac joined the Navy in October 1951 and was honorably discharged in September 1955. He received a Good Conduct Medal for his service and remained deeply proud of his time in the Navy.

Upon Mac's return, he met Verna, and they were married for 67 years, a testament to their love and commitment. During that time, he devoted several years to studying electrical engineering in the Navy as well as at South Dakota State University.

Mac had a passion for becoming a small business owner, and through dedication and hard work, he achieved that goal as the owner of Hasvold Vending. Mac also loved sailing and later became a distributor for Hobie Cat. He and Verna cherished those fun days together, spending time on the water and hosting sailing competitions at lakes across the region. Mac was incredibly proud of the success he built through perseverance and relationships.

After selling Hasvold Vending, Mac and Verna retired to Prescott, Arizona. Giving back to the community was important to him. He generously volunteered his time at First Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Humane Society.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Malcom and Myrtle Hasvold; and his siblings, Arlyce Peterson, Darlene Manolis, and Marvin Hasvold.
