Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, September 5, at the funeral home. This visitation and the luncheon will be in conjunction with her uncle, Carlyle "Bud" Rea services.

Margaret Suzanne (Fechner) Konrad was born February 9, 1957 in Sioux Falls, SD to Donna (Rea) Fechner and Norris Fechner. She was an excellent student and shared her father's interest in classic cars and gardening. Margaret went on to graduate from Lincoln High School in 1974.  She attended the University of South Dakota and later attained an associate degree in computer sciences.

Margaret married Tom Konrad in 1980, and they started a family on the Konrad generational farm by Tripp, SD.  They had four boys: Thomas (deceased shortly after birth), Robert, Daniel, and Michael. Despite the challenges of farm life, Margaret endeavored to provide support, structure, and love to her family. Margaret enjoyed cooking meals and worked to make a loving home. As her children grew older, she contributed to the family by working at the Fort Randall Casino where she was promoted to manager.  She made lasting friends with coworkers and customers, and her department thrived under her guidance.

Tom and Margaret amicably separated in the early 2000's; however, they continued to mutually support their children.  Margaret moved to Springfield, SD in 2009 where she found Paul Zweifel, the love of her life. Margaret and Paul maintained a beautiful home along the Missouri River, and they were truly happy. Margaret often mentioned Paul's kindness and compassion.  They enjoyed fishing and watching the abundant river wildlife. Margaret was kind to all animals, and she spoiled her cats.

During her time in Springfield, Margaret worked at the local Casey's General Store where she did everything from making cookies and pizza to management duties.  She liked the routine of the morning customers and always shared a smile.  Margaret will be remembered for her friendly personality and willingness to help others.

Margaret was proud of her EMT first responder certification. By happenstance, she witnessed a remote helicopter crash, and she bravely provided life saving assistance. Just weeks ago, Margaret provided needed medical help to a distressed passerby.

Margaret adored her granddaughters and loved them unconditionally. Grandma Margaret took great care to make holidays fun and welcoming. Challenging and bountiful Easter egg hunts at grandma's were tradition.  Grandma attended special events and milestones for all.  She loved children with all her heart.

Margaret is survived by her three sons Robert (Cathy) Konrad and their children, Addison, Isabel, Eloise, and Emelia, Tripp, SD; Daniel Konrad, Tripp, SD; Michael (Angela) Konrad and their children Cora, Jocelyn, and Siena, Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Norris, very special friend Paul, former spouse Tom, and infant son Thomas.
