With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marijo Groft Jessen, who passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 53.

Marijo was born January 26, 1973, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was adopted by her loving parents, Richard and Nila Groft, and raised alongside her brother, Charles Groft.

Marijo pursued her dream of becoming a registered nurse and began her career at Sioux Valley Hospital. Her compassion and dedication to caring for others touched many lives. While working in the ICU, she met the love of her life, Neil, and they were married on November 4, 2000.

Together, Marijo and Neil built a loving home and welcomed four children: Kailee, Nolan, Jordan, and Jayden. She later stepped away from nursing to become a stay-at-home mom, embracing motherhood as her greatest calling. She took immense pride in her children and found joy in supporting them with love, encouragement, and discipline.

Marijo dedicated her life to her family and found happiness in life's simple moments—time with her children and dogs. Shared laughter while drinking  Diet Coke or unsweetened iced tea. Her strength, humor, compassion, and sparkle left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a gift for making others feel loved and welcomed, and her light will continue to shine through those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Neil, and their children, Kailee, Nolan, Jordan, and Jayden, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Groft.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace with God. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
