Marilyn Wylie, a beloved resident of Canton, South Dakota, peacefully left us on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Canton. She was 92 years old, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ruth "Marilyn" Lien was born on November 28, 1932, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, adopted into the loving family of Rev. Gilman and Milla (Vold) Lien. She graduated from Beresford High School in 1950 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Sioux Valley Nursing School in Sioux Falls, marking the beginning of her dedicated career in healthcare.

On May 31, 1953, Marilyn married Donald Wylie in Morris, Minnesota. Their journey together began in the countryside near Vermillion, South Dakota, before they settled in Hutchinson, Minnesota, where they raised their children and built a loving home.

In 1973, the family relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Marilyn shared her nurturing spirit as a registered nurse in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors' clinics, until her retirement in 2002. Her commitment to helping others was evident in every aspect of her life.

Marilyn was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister. During her leisure time, she found joy in reading, working on puzzles, sewing, and baking. However, nothing brought her greater joy than attending her grandchildren's activities, where she was the most devoted cheerleader, always supporting and celebrating their achievements.

Marilyn is cherished and remembered by her loving children: Pam Pulkrabek of Hutchinson, MN, Debra (Jeff) Roepke of Hutchinson, MN, LeeAnn (Gerry) Bills of Sioux Falls, and Greg (Lisa) Wylie of Sioux Falls. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Leland Lien of Minneapolis, MN.

Marilyn is now reunited with her parents, Gilman and Milla; her infant sister, Maryanna Lien; her husband, Donald Wylie; and her great-grandson, Jude Roepke, all of whom she missed dearly.

A funeral service to celebrate her remarkable life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57105. Marilyn and Donald will be laid to rest together at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, where their love story will continue to shine.
