Marjorie Johns, with a spirit of energy and joy, left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched. She passed away on November 24, 2024, in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 88.

Born on October 31, 1936, Marjorie Carol Killion grew up to live a life as vibrant and colorful as her Halloween birthday. A true South Dakota gem, Marjorie grew up in Milbank, attended the University of South Dakota, and then spread her wings to explore the world. She lived in San Francisco, CA, and then married Richard Linneman. She also lived in Watertown, Bryant, and Lake Pointset, making friends and collecting stories along the way.

Marjorie's love story is one for the ages. She reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Jim Johns, at a high school reunion, and they tied the knot on April 22, 1996. Together, they danced through life, sharing love, laughter, and adventure. Jim passed away on December 30, 2009. Marjorie moved to Dell Rapids, SD shortly thereafter. While in Dell Rapids, she was active in the Methodist Church and several community projects including the Food Bank.

A true Renaissance woman, Marjorie wore many hats throughout her life. She was a secretary, insurance professional, restaurateur, grocery store and dry goods clerk, worked in real estate, was a nursing home supervisor, senior companion, and was a home inspection business partner. Whew!

When she wasn't working, Marjorie loved to read, garden, golf, and soak up the great outdoors. She was a talented cook who even published her own cookbook! Music and dance were her passions, and in her younger years, she twirled her way through life as a majorette baton twirler in marching band.

At the heart of Marjorie's life was her family. She adored her loved ones and was cherished by them in return. Her legacy will live on through her daughter, Kim (Wallace) Peace; grandchildren, Danielle (Jamie) Munson and Dylan Doescher; daughter-in-law, Julie Linneman; sister, Dianne Ruotsalainen; and nieces and nephews, Alicia Davis, Chad Peterson, Tami Major, Jeff Killion, and Jim Killion.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; son, Nick Linneman; three infant sons; parents, Percy and Ethel (Bast) Killion; and brother, Walter Killion.

A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue (81st and Minnesota Ave). Join us for an afternoon of storytelling, laughter, and tears as we honor the incredible life of Marjorie Johns.
