Marjorie Oolman, 92, passed away peacefully in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home (Westside Location) 6200 W. 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD.

Marjorie Catherine Oolman was born January 18th, 1934, to Ernest and Catherine Hansen. She grew up on a farm with her five siblings near Jasper, MN. After high school graduation, she attended the College of Medical Technology and X-ray in Minneapolis. After getting her degree, she moved to Adrian, MN, where she worked for Dr. Lakola and Dr. Nealy. On her lunch break, she would go ice-skating or to the local café, where she met her future husband, Lawrence. Lawrence was a shy farm boy who was helping with the construction of the school, but he got brave and ordered Marge a crème soda one day.  They married on December 29th, 1956, in Jasper. The couple lived on a farm near Adrian. Marge was a homemaker/farmwife who became involved in the county extension club, the PTA, and the local blood mobile. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian, where she served on several boards, the ladies' aid, and taught Sunday School and Bible school.

During the farm crisis, she was a mediator for the farmers. In 1984, she began working for CCSI, where she helped with physically challenged adults. Marge was on the Adrian school board for three terms. She often did volunteer where ever needed in the community and in school. She survived breast cancer at the young age of 25. In her later years, she was diagnosed with subcutaneous T-cell lymphoma. She faced her health challenges with determination,  with faith in God and her medical team.

After Lawrence passed away, she eventually moved to Sioux Falls and did volunteer work at the Butterfly House, Sanford Hospital, and the Avera Prairie Center. Marge also worked as a merchandiser for Hallmark. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, participated in the Rebecca Circle, and helped at the annual bazaar.

Survivors include: son, Steve (Patty), and daughter, Sherri. Marge has 4 grandchildren: Kalie (Monte), Brenton (deceased), Brianna (Zach), and Brady (Alyssa). Marge has 4 great-grandchildren.

Marge is survived by one sister, Gloria, and one brother, Ray (Judy). Her brothers, Dean and Paul, and sister, Ruth, are deceased.

Marge enjoyed being with her neighbors on the farm, where they frequently had coffee parties, celebrated birthdays, and played cards. She enjoyed reading and writing, doing crafts, gardening, and would strike up a conversation with anyone. Marge was a coffee lover and a chocoholic. She enjoyed her pets, crossword puzzles, and watching crime shows, scary movies, and medical shows. Marge was a faithful Viking fan and never gave up on them.

Fun facts about Marge are that she had taken two hot air balloon rides, rode in an open are bi-plane, and was on the quiz show "25 Words or Less" with Meredith Vieira. She even walked with the Olympic Torch with her CCSI group in Worthington.

Memorials can be given to First Lutheran Media, The Humane Society, or Project Car, all of Sioux Falls.
