Marlys Elms, 73, of Dell Rapids, SD passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Avera Dells Area Hospital.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, April 7, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 8, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.
Marlys was born July 17th, 1951 in Hull, Iowa to Lorne and Geraldine Harms (Blau). She grew up in Clear Lake, South Dakota on the family farm. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1969. She attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota and graduated in 1974. Marlys first became a mother in 1975 and had four children. She was a hard worker and would do anything for her family, but didn't want anyone fussing over her.
Marlys was a loving mother to four, grandmother to seven and great grandmother to one. She liked the Broncos, traveling to new places, going to Brookings for walking tacos, watching the water, reading books, playing word games, and working on cross stitch, especially baby quilts.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children and their families - Karyn, Braylon and Kaivaughn Young; Melissa, Nevaeh and Jameson Elms; Kenneth, Krystal, Noah and Harper Elms; siblings - Erma (Donald) Larson, Lorraine (Donald) Puckett, Gerald Harms, Jolene Harms (Donald), Loretta (Michael) Briggs; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Bryan Harms.
