Marsha Kay
(Baum) Snook
Sep 5, 1952 — Mar 31, 2025
Sioux Falls
Marsha Kay (Baum) Snook passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with her family by her side. Marsha was 72 years old.
Marsha was born in Huron, South Dakota, on September 5, 1952, to parents, Orville and Audrey (Peterson) Baum. The family lived in Custer, SD, for a short time before settling in Sioux Falls, SD, near family. Marsha graduated from Washington High School.
Following graduation, Marsha worked at Terry's Dry Cleaners. She met her future husband on a blind date – the only successful blind date she ever had! The couple were married for 51 years. Married life began in Omaha, NE, and then Ron was transferred to Madison, Wisconsin, shortly after. They also lived in Randolph, WI, where she worked at Jung Seed Company until moving to Crandon, WI, then to Menominee, MI, before returning to Sioux Falls, SD, to start their own business, Mail Boxes Etc.
While in Crandon, WI, they adopted a baby boy, Jeremiah, an answer to many prayers. He kept her busy with various activities, including school, T-Ball, soccer, basketball, and scouting, among others. After they sold their business in 2004, she joined Cigna Home Delivery Pharmacy. Ultimately, she worked as a pharmacy technician until her retirement in November 2020. After a couple of months, she started working at a day care with the babies until her health declined.
Marsha was diagnosed with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). She eventually had to give up household chores. Ron became her caregiver. A job he did very well!
Her faith in God was a significant aspect of her life. Although she was no longer able to attend church, her friends there kept her in touch. She served as the Nursery Coordinator for ten years at Trinity Baptist Church and also for several years at North Shore Baptist Church in Menominee, MI. Music was always important; it spoke many sermons to her.
She loved growing plants inside and out. There were always tomatoes in the summer. She loved growing flowers, roses, orchids, African Violets, and more. She loved making things for family and friends, including quilts, toys, crafts, and sewing clothes, as well as creating birthday cakes for her son Jeremiah when he was young and her granddaughter, Serenity, when she was young.
Marsha is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ronald Snook; son, Jeremiah (Jessica); granddaughter, Serenity; brother, Randy (Connie); sisters, Marla, Sheri, and Marcy; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Marsha also leaves behind good friends in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arkansas.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and two brothers, Dicky and Barry.
A memorial service for Marsha will be held at Trinity Baptist Church May 3rd, 2025 at 11:00 am.
