Marvin C. Fluto of Hartford, age 81, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church (701 N Main Ave., Hartford, SD) with family present one hour prior for visitation.

Marvin was born on December 14, 1943 to Erling and Iris (Mashek) Fluto in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Wyndmere, North Dakota. Marvin completed two years of Science School in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He was drafted in to the Army in 1965 and served for two years. He then began working with his father in road construction. In 1969, Marvin moved to Sioux Falls and began his truck driving career. He drove semis for Pam Oil, Nordica Food, and Midwest Motor Express before retirement.

Marvin married Diane Edman on February 9, 1974 in Lennox, South Dakota. The couple made their home on an acreage in the Hartford Heights area. Marvin had a great sense of humor, and loved telling jokes to people. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing.

Grateful to have shared Marvin's life with him are his wife, Diane Fluto of Hartford, SD; his brother, Don (Kathy) Fluto of Wyndmere, ND; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Erling and Iris Fluto; his brother, James; his sisters Elaine, LaVay, and Lois; and his nephews, Scott and Doug.
