Michael Lee Berreth was born on October 17, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD to Edwin and Delores (Albrecht) Berreth. Mike attended school at Simmons Elementary and Junior High. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1969.

Growing up, Mike was a member of the Boy Scouts, following through to Eagle Scout. He attended many camps and earned many badges. He enjoyed going to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Mike was also active in both wrestling and football, where he earned his letter.

For 2 years Mike attended Northern State College before enlisting in the Navy. He served from 1971 to 1975 aboard the US Kittyhawk. His tours took him to many ports, including Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, and the coast of Vietnam. Mike's ship also put on a show for the Shaw of Iran. On one tour, they crossed the equator, earning Mike his Shellback card.

After his honorable discharge, Mike returned to Aberdeen, where he met Pamela Blank. The couple was married in 1978 and were blessed with 2 daughters, Amber and Jessica.

Mike worked as a yard foreman in Aberdeen, SD, Alexandria, MN, and Winona, MN for over 30 years. After his retirement, Mike and Pam returned to South Dakota, settling in Sioux Falls. Mike loved to read, especially Westerns, war stories, and science fiction. Mike and Pam loved to go on walks together. Mike also enjoyed bowling and at one point was in 3 leagues. Michael loved watching football; his team was the Green Bay Packers. Or as he nicknamed them, "The Cardiac Kids" because they were always so exciting to watch. Mike and Pam were known to occasionally yell at the TV during a game.

Mike is survived by his wife, Pamela (Blank) Berreth; daughters, Amber (Donny) Barnes and Jessica Feser; grandchildren, Alea (Nathan) Hicks, Ashlyn, Mya, Michael, Jacob, Daisy, and Connor; sister, Susan Wiseman; brother, Roger (Lena) Berreth; brothers-in-law, Michael (Trish) Blank and John (Jill) Blank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
