Michael F.
Kelly
May 29, 1947 — Jan 19, 2025
Sioux Falls
Michael Finegan Kelly, 77, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, following a brief illness. Born in Carroll, Iowa, to Alice and Arnold Kelly, he was a dedicated father to his children, Ann Marie and Cristin, whom he cherished deeply. Though his marriage to Vickie Young ended in divorce, they continued as friends, and he was a frequent presence in their lives.
A copywriter by trade, he was known for his quick and quirky sense of humor, creative mind, and the way he could put others at ease. His warm, kind heart enabled him to see and accept others as their authentic selves. Mike rarely judged or spoke ill of anyone. In his free time, he enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends, keeping up on current events, going to the movies, and attending sporting events. As a lifelong supporter of the Arts, he also took pleasure in attending the occasional performance or exhibit.
Mike leaves behind his daughters Ann (Steven) Miles of Worthing, SD, and Cristin Kelly of Sioux Falls, SD, grandchildren Konner and Kenzie Miles both age 16 of Worthing, SD, grandpups Mila and Punky, brothers Timothy (Lonnie) Kelly of Farmington, MN, Dennis Kelly of Clive, IA, and Kevin (Carol) Kelly of Agency, IA, and sister Kathleen (Robert) Reinhardt of Lakeville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Alice Kelly of Lake View, IA, and his beloved childhood pup, Pumpkin. He will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile, unique sense of humor, and warm, gentle nature.
A memorial service will be held at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel on Friday, January 24th, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation and refreshments to follow. A committal service will be held at South Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at 2:00 PM. All friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Arts South Dakota.
