Nancy Birchard passed away peacefully with the support of Avera@Home Hospice on December 28, 2024.

Nancy Lee Meyer was born on September 17, 1952 in Algona, IA to Raymond & Leta Meyer (Reynolds).  She attended school in Emmetsburg, IA, before moving to Greenfield, IA for her senior year of high school.  Following high school, she attended college at Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA where she obtained an Associate's Degree.  After college, she did some traveling in her beloved Plymouth Duster.  She ultimately made her home in Atlantic, IA where she met her husband and they had three children to complete their family.  She held multiple bookkeeping jobs over the years, and was fortunate enough to also spend many years as a homemaker.

Nancy was a devout Catholic and her faith was incredibly important to her.  She loved the Iowa State Cyclones (and she tolerated the Iowa Hawkeyes).  She loved basketball, music, and "cool" cars.  She enjoyed going for walks, playing games, and doing puzzles.  Perhaps her greatest pastime was spending time being a grandma.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Emilee Birchard of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bryan (Kristen) Birchard of Ottumwa, Iowa and Mollie (Juan) Sanchez of Lennox, South Dakota; a sister, Diane (Robert) Weiland of Emmetsburg, Iowa; a brother, Daniel (Vicki) Meyer of Ankeny, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Leta Meyer, and a nephew, Benjamin Weiland.
