Nell W. Luce, a beloved member of the Sioux Falls community, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in hospice care in Orange, California. She was 85 years old.

Born on January 11, 1941, to Curtis and Eleth (Rogers) Williams in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nell grew up in a close-knit family. She attended local public schools and proudly graduated from Washington High School in 1959.

Nell was passionate about education and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She dedicated her early career to nurturing young minds as a kindergarten and 2nd-grade teacher for about five years. After getting married, she moved to California with her then-husband, but they later divorced. In 1983, after her divorce, Nell was introduced to Jack.

In 1985, Nell and John "Jack" Luce celebrated their marriage in Fullerton, California. Together, they built a wonderful life in Sioux Falls before relocating to California in 1991, where they continued to grow together.

Nell was a person who brought joy, warmth, and compassion to the lives of those around her. Her spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her husband, Jack Luce, is grateful for the love and memories they shared.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Calvary Episcopal Cathedral. A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home – Downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Nell will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
