Nichole Marie (Jensen) Herman passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center. Nichole was 36.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September, 17, 2026, at the Miller Funeral Home Hartford Chapel (600 S Western Ave) in Hartford, SD. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Hartford United Methodist Church (102 E 2nd St) in Hartford, SD. Following the service, the burial will take place at the Hartford Community Cemetery.

Nichole was born May 25, 1990, to Tony Jensen and Christy Johnson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She briefly attended West Central Elementary before moving to an acreage outside of Colton and attending Tri-Valley. The family later moved back to Hartford, where she graduated from West Central in 2008. After graduation, she attended Black Hills Beauty College in Sioux Falls and became a cosmetologist.

She met her future husband, Josh Herman, in Colton at her brother’s birthday party in April of 2010. She moved to Rapid City with Josh, where Nichole began a career in banking with Great Western Bank. Josh and Nichole moved to Sioux Falls and bought their first home together in May of 2013. Josh and Nichole were married September 27, 2014, in Dell Rapids. In 2015, they began their family with the birth of their daughter, Maggie, followed by Nora in 2017. They later moved to a beautiful acreage outside of Parker. This move began her collection of all the animals she had always dreamed of having—her own little funny farm.

Nichole was a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and amazing friend whose bright eyes and spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted mother of two who treasured her family above all else. Her husband, Josh; two daughters, Maggie and Nora; dog, Bo; resilient goat, Phil; along with their many chickens, ducks, and farm cats were what she loved most.

Nichole loved her girls, Maggie and Nora, so incredibly much. Being their mom was a role she cherished. She found joy in the little things—doing their hair and makeup, helping them pick out cute outfits, dressing them up, and making them feel beautiful and confident. She also loved watching them play sports and was one of their biggest cheerleaders, proudly and loudly supporting them from the sidelines.

For several years, she built a career in banking. To her, it was never simply a job. She loved her customers and cherished the relationships she formed within the Lennox community. She made her customers feel welcomed, cared for, and known. Her customers became friends, familiar faces, and important parts of her life. Her kindness and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on the community she so proudly served. She ended her career with IRA Financial in Sioux Falls, SD.

Nichole loved to travel with her family and friends—whether that was a trip to Rapid City or a trip to Mexico to lay on the beach. Nichole was also a good cook. Alongside her husband, Josh, they loved preparing meals and were always searching for a new recipe to try. She found joy in hosting her family and friends for parties, holidays, or a simple evening hanging out, sharing conversation, and watching the kids play.

Above all, Nichole was a bright light in a dark room. She had a way of finding the good in life and making everyone around her feel that things would be okay. Everything was always “Great!” It was more than a word to her; it was her outlook on life.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, positivity, adventure, and countless relationships that will continue long after her passing. Maggie and Nora will carry her love forward, her family will carry her memories, and the many customers, coworkers, friends, and community members will remember the woman who always made them feel like they mattered.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Josh; daughters, Maggie and Nora; parents, Christy and Scott Person, Oacoma, SD, and Tony and Pam Jensen, Sioux Falls, SD; mother-in-law, Marlene Herman, Rapid City, SD; father-in-law, Denny Herman, Rapid City, SD; siblings, Cody Jensen (Nichole Eickstadt), Chancellor, SD, Mariea Jensen, Sioux Falls, SD, Me’Shaya Tripp (Adam), Hartford, SD, Michael Person, Valley Springs, SD, and Amanda Kriens (Mark), Trent, SD; nephews and nieces, Nolan, Kashton, Twila, Archer, Vivian, Brynlee, Kade, and Ella.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Wayne and Mary Johnson, Jerome Jensen, Doris Backes, Donavin and Maxine Person; and aunt, Wanda Jacobson.
