Orieth "Orie" Ribstein passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls. She was 99. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home - Southside Chapel (7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls), with the family greeting friends for visitation one hour prior.

Orieth "Orie" Lavone Collins was born June 17th, 1926, in Clear Lake, SD, to Herbert and Inga (Forseth) Collins. She grew up on a farm near Gary, SD, and attended school there, where she was the homecoming queen of her class in 1944. After graduating, she moved to Sioux Falls to attend Nettleton College. From there, she took a train to Pierre, SD, where she was employed at the capital building as a secretary. She then returned to Sioux Falls and worked at Northwest Security Bank. Through her love of dancing, she met her husband, Dwight Ribstein, at the Arkota Ballroom in Sioux Falls. Orieth and Dwight united in marriage on October 17th, 1948, in Gary, SD. Together, they made their home in Sioux Falls, where they raised their four children. Once all her children were in school, she returned to work at Burroughs until her retirement in 1983.

Active in her church, Orieth was a member of First United Methodist for over 75 years. Endlessly kind, she greeted everyone with a hug and always saw to the needs of others. She enjoyed sharing her recipes, spending time with her children or grandchildren, and staying sharp with a variety of hobbies. An avid reader, puzzler, and dancer, she was proud to be able to say she danced at the age of 95 with her son Steve at her granddaughter Carly's wedding.

Orieth is survived by her children, Ronald (Haylee) Ribstein, Spearfish, SD, Gary (Denise) Ribstein, Vista, CA, Karen (Donald) Hall, Sioux Falls, SD, and Steven (Carolyn) Ribstein, Harrisburg, SD; five grandchildren, Kellen (Kasi) Hall, Ryan (Madi) Hall, both of Sioux Falls, SD, Jared (Ali Blake) Ribstein, Fort Collins, CO, Katherine (Austen) Erickson, Spearfish, SD, and Carly (Bodhi) Schultz, Sioux Falls, SD; and great-grandchildren, Parker, Rory, Harper, and Leland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Dwight, four brothers, four sisters, and her grandson, Andrew.
