Paul A. Muehler, 90, of Hankinson, ND, passed away on March 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born on November 14, 1934, in Richland County, North Dakota, the eldest son of Albert and Laura Muehler. He graduated from Hankinson Public School in 1952 before proudly serving in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, continuing in the reserves until his honorable discharge in 1962.

In 1958, Paul married the love of his life, Darlene Zentner, and together they built a beautiful life, raising six sons. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University in 1960, followed by a law degree from the University of North Dakota in 1963. Paul began his legal career in Hettinger, ND, where he served as Assistant State's Attorney for Adams County and County Justice for Hettinger County. In 1964, he returned to Hankinson to establish a general law practice. Throughout his career, he served as City Attorney for Hankinson, Fairmount, and Mantador and was a dedicated board member of St. Gerard's Community Hospital.

A man of deep faith, Paul was an active member of St. Philip's Catholic Church. Paul and Darlene were married for 66 years, raising six sons and creating a large extended family of 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Together, they created a legacy of faith, love, and family. Their home was filled with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Paul is survived by his sons: Brian (Joan) of Moorhead, MN; Scott (Kari) of Wahpeton, ND; Darin (Kristi) of Simi Valley, CA; Tim (Paula) of Madison Lake, MN; Todd (Kerri) of Vermillion, SD; daughter-in-law Stacie of Daphne, AL; his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings Joan, Faye, Gary, Harlan, and Leon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his son, Jason; his parents; his sisters, Audrey and Arlene; and his brother, Wayne.

Paul will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, dedication to family, and steadfast faith. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28th, at Vertin Munson Funeral Home, 224 6th St N., Wahpeton, ND 58075. Paul and Darlene will be laid to rest together at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at Fargo National Cemetery, 8709 40th Ave N Co Rd 20, Harwood, ND 58042.
