Randal Roger Rist age 78 of Brandon SD, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026 at Avera Hospital.

A memorial service, followed by military honors and burial will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 25965 477th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD.

Born on April 28, 1948, in Viborg SD he was the youngest son of Hank and Oney Rist. Randy grew up in Centerville SD graduating from Centerville High School in 1966. Randy was drafted in 1968 and served two years in the Army. After the Army he returned to South Dakota and worked in the automotive industry.

Randy was united in marriage to Pamela Boelkes from 1967 to 1987 and they were blessed with two sons Kenneth and Matthew.

Randy will be remembered as a true car guy through and through. He had a lifelong passion for Mopar’s and Harley’s, and the friendships that came from sharing that passion with others. Whether he was talking cars, admiring a favorite ride, or enjoying time around others who loved the automotive world as much as he did, Randy’s enthusiasm was easy to see and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth (Bridget) of Brandon SD, Matthew (Michelle) of Riverton NJ, and his four granddaughters. Kelsey (AJ) Holtz of Sioux Falls, Brynne (Mallory) McQuistan of Elkhorn Ne, Paige Rist of Mankato MN, and Addison Rist of Mankato MN, and five Great Grand Children. Randy is also survived by his sister Glenda Carlson and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Curtis Rist, sister in-law Virgina Rist and brother in-law James Carlson.
