Rhonda
Kroetch
Sep 24, 1962 — Sep 12, 2024
Sioux Falls
Rhonda Kroetch, age 61, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on September 24, 1962, to Dennis and Sandra (Folkens) Toner in Missoula, MT. They then moved to Big Stone City, SD. At the age of two, she was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at the Mayo Clinic. She never let her disability hold her back from achieving her goals in life.
Rhonda graduated high school at CCHS in Sioux Falls in 1981 and was accepted to attend Southwest State University in Marshall, MN. She graduated in 1985 Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a Social Work Emphasis. Her goal in life was always to help people. Her first job was at Prairie Freedom Center in Sioux Falls where she helped people with disabilities learn to live independently. Always striving to achieve more, she became a Medical Claims Examiner at Disability Determination Services in 1990. This job turned into her life work and she excelled at it.
On September 7, 1991, Rhonda married the love of her life, Neal Kroetch in Sioux Falls, SD.
She worked at Sioux Falls, DDS for six years before transferring to Tucson, AZ DDS for an extended period and she later worked at Carson City, NV DDS. Her ambition to always better herself led her to be hired to work in the Federal Building in Denver, Colorado as a D.Q.B. Quality Assurance Reviewer of cases in other states. Because of Rhonda's extensive knowledge, Tucson DDS called her back to be the Medical Consultant Supervisor over the 36 doctors employed there which was also a very big promotion for her. She held this position until her retirement. For 30 years she handled her jobs with skill and grace and helped thousands of people throughout her life.
One of Rhonda's greatest joys was her Pomeranians dogs which she and Neal had and they were Pepper, Clem, BeBe, and Roxy.
After her retirement, Rhonda and Neal moved back to Sioux Falls in 2014 so that she and her sister, Mona, could be together. They shared a very strong sisterly bond and loved doing activities such as shopping, going out to eat, listening to music, and watching TV programs together. Rhonda was a devout and devoted person with a deep passion for her Catholic faith. She loved to pray, study the Bible, and grow closer to the Lord every day, always thanking Him for all her blessings. Rhonda was a kind, caring, and loving person who will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Grateful to have shared her life are her husband of 33 years, Neal Kroetch; stepson, Jermiah Kroetch, and grandson Warwick Kroetch; parents, Dennis and Sandra Toner; sister, Ramona Lee (Jamie) Skidmore; aunts, Judy Gray, Kate (Bob) Hanson, Kathy Gillespie, Carol (Charlie) Lewis, and Cheryl Bachmeier; brother-in-law, Ralph (Carol) Kroetch; sisters-in-law, Karen (Roger) Heart, and Valerie Kroetch; special friends, Mary, Kerry, and Norma; numerous family and friends.
