Richard Edward "Dick" Jameson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Prince of Peace Long Term Care. Dick was joyfully reunited in Heaven with his wife, Sherry, and son, John, along with precious family and friends who preceded him.

Dick was born on June 8, 1931, to parents Howard (Happ) and Helen Jameson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he lived until graduating high school in 1949. His father, an instrumental executive in Harley-Davidson's early years of growth, fueled Dick's love and knowledge for all things mechanical and engineering. He and his brother Bob grew up riding motorcycles, fixing bicycles, and small engines in their basement. He pursued his passion and received his Engineering Degree from the University of Wisconsin in three years, while serving as the proud President of his Sigma Chi fraternity.

On March 3, 1956, Dick married the love of his life, Cherryl (Sherry) Lee Bixler, in Des Moines, Iowa. Blessed with two children, Traci and John, Dick and Sherry raised their children to know the comfort and blessings of faith in their lives. They were founding members of Crestwood United Church of Christ in Sioux Falls and later involved in building Crestwood's successor, Spirit of Peace UCC.

Dick was an entrepreneur, engineer, and adventurer at heart. After starting his career as a mechanical engineer for the Trane Company in Des Moines, Iowa, Dick and Sherry made their way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, when Dick became regional manager of the Trane Dakota operations. He later was Trane Company franchise owner, formed the Sioux Falls Trane Service Agency and the Richard E. Jameson Company including Shakstad Electric and multiple real-estate ventures. Along with being deeply involved in his businesses, his church and the Sioux Falls community, Dick was a passionate supporter of the Boy Scouts of America bringing PGA Professionals Lee Trevino and Johhny Miller to Sioux Falls for the annual Scout golf fundraiser and ultimately was honored with the Silver Beaver Award. He was also a member of the Sioux Falls Rotary Club and ASHRAE South Dakota as President from 1974-1975. Dick and Sherry loved their many community ventures over the years including being among the original pioneers of the "Phillips to the Falls" project in downtown Sioux Falls from their early Falls Center building renovation that has left a lasting impact on the community.

Those who knew Dick recognized that his truest passion was his family where his unselfish dedication to this was unwavering. Dick and Sherry had many adventures over the years both together and with children and friends. They loved to spend time golfing, entertaining and socializing at the Westward Ho Country Club and with friends in Sun Lakes, Arizona. They went on numerous ski and snowmobiling trips along the way and enjoyed their lake time at Lake Madison and Okoboji. Competing in regional and national Hobie Cat sailing competitions was particularly exciting for the family. Sherry always as Dick's #1 crew! They loved travelling and exploring the world together and with friends both in the US and around the globe. They shared their love and wonder for America's beauty with their children and later, with their precious grandchildren, Jamie, Matt and Makai in the RV, which often included a motorcycle hitched in front while trailering a boat loaded with numerous "toys". Dick also found time to amaze his family with his passion as a pilot, including building an amphibian float plane with a few of his fellow engineer friends, starting in the family garage. Dick and Sherry were avid sports fans as they sat together most game night evenings to root for their favorite teams, the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and the Phoenix Suns while playing cards.

Grateful for having shared his full and happy life are his daughter, Traci (Dick) Hylland of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Jamie (Danny) Hylland Norrdin of Solana Beach, CA, Matthew (Melisa) Hylland of Chicago, IL, and Makai Jameson of Phoenix, AZ; and great-grandson, Bear Jameson Norrdin. Dick was preceded in death by Sherry, their beloved son John, his parents, brother Bob and sister Anne.

A service to honor Dick's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 26th at Spirit of Peace Church, 6509 S. Cliff Ave., Sioux Falls. Fellowship and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's honor can be directed to SF Alzheimer's Association, the Boy Scouts of America and Spirit of Peace Church.
