Richard Dean McCauley, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2026 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born on January 17, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD to Fredrick T. and Hazel (Wait) McCauley. He graduated from Washington High School and served two years in the US Navy from 1955-1957, mostly in the Far East. He was employed for 35 years in the telephone industry, retiring as a manager from US West Communications in September 1993.

Richard was united in marriage to Beverly Jo Kinsley on November 14, 1958, in Pipestone, Minnesota. They lovingly enjoyed over 67 years together.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Beverly; daughter, Peggy (Tim) Hora of Mitchell, SD; sisters, Carol (Brent) Hart, St Augustine, FL, and Susan (Dale) Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Kira (Brian) Berens, Tara, and Adam Stammer of Sioux Falls, Alea of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Hazel; two brothers, Fred and Milton McCauley; sister, June McCauley; and son, Mark McCauley.
