Sep 29, 1957 — Jun 18, 2026
Sioux Falls
Rick Siewert, 68, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was called home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 29, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rick lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his faith and the ones he loved. A proud United States Army Veteran, Rick served his country with honor and carried the same spirit of service into every aspect of his life. Rick graduated from The University of Mary and later fostered his love of learning by completing two master's degrees.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick was a dedicated member of his church and The Knights of Columbus where he enjoyed serving others and the Lord. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Bonnie (Welder) whom he married on October 3, 1980, and together they built a life that blessed them with two children Jessica and Michael. He lived for his family and always put them first. Though he loved fishing, golfing, and pickle ball, Rick's absolute pride and joy was his role as grandfather to Burke, Lillian, and Blaise which brought him endless joy and laughter.
Rick was a constant source of strength, guidance and sacrifice. He was a kind man who would do anything for anybody and the life lessons he taught will forever be with the lives of those he touched.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Bonnie of Sioux Falls, SD, his daughter Jessica (Brooks) Bernhagen and grandson Burke of Rapid City, SD, his son Michael (Madison) Siewert and grandchildren Lillian and Blaise of Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law Anna Welder of Fargo, ND, Bev of Moorhead, MN and Mary Siewert of Bismarck, ND; brothers-in-law, Dick Welder (Judi) of Alexandria, MN, and Vern Welder (Joyce) of Bismarck, ND. He is proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Laverne Siewert, his brother Glenn Siewert, his parents-in-law Pete and Lillian Welder, and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jeanne Welder.
The family will be present at 5 pm with a prayer service being held on Friday, June 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel 7400 South Minnesota Ave. Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held on June 27th at 10:30 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Sioux Falls, SD.
