Robert Girouard passed away on September 11, 2017, at Palisade Health Center in Garretson, SD. He was 87.

Robert was born on February 15, 1939, in New Haven, CT, to Oliver and Leona (Dubois) Girouard. He grew up in Waterbury, CT. He married Maribelle Gordon in York, SC, on October 15, 1959. The couple moved to New Jersey, ultimately settling in Newton, NJ, where they lived for 31 years.

For most of Robert's career, he worked as a furniture salesman and restoration expert, ultimately retiring in 2009. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and spent most of his post-retirement years travelling with Maribelle to classic car shows around the country. In 2015, Robert and Maribelle moved to Sioux Falls, SD, to be closer to family.

Robert is survived by his brother, George, Inverness, FL; sons, Jamie (Brenda), Sioux Falls, SD, and John (Pamelia), Las Vegas, NV, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister, Lorraine, and his brother, Raymond.

A graveside service will be held at St. Michael's Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD, at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 17th, 2026.
