Robert "Bob" Burton Hall passed away October 18th, 2024, at AVA's House, he had just turned 77. He was born on October 17th, 1947, in Huron, SD. Following the death of his birth parents Bob and his brother Richard were adopted by William and Irene Hall of Sioux Falls.
Bob graduated from Washington High School in 1965; after briefly attending Augustana University he joined the Navy the following year. While in the navy he served in the Mediterranean and was a Plank Owner of the USS Camden. He served one tour in Vietnam as the forward gunner for Boat Crew 55, River Division 572, where he received a Purple Heart, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Navy Achievement Medal with a Combat V.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1969 he joined the family business, Dakota By Products. In 1970, Bob married Kari Kirkeby Over. They had two daughters Elizabeth Irene Hall Kamrath and Allison Kristine Hall. Following the closing of Dakota By Products in 1985 Bob started volunteering as assistant equipment manager for Augustana University Football under Jim Heinitz. After a few years he was promoted to head equipment manager; a position he held for more than 30 years. He also served as the equipment manager for the Sioux Falls Storm under Curtiss Rigges. During the offseason, he volunteered as the assistant coach for his daughters O'Gorman High School Golf Teams.
Bob enjoyed traveling to far off locals with family, playing golf, and wintering in Kauai, Hawaii. Despite his gruff exterior, Bob was a teddy bear who loved life. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Kari, his two daughters Elizabeth and Allison, Grandson Ryan, and niece Lori Bangasser.
A private family service will be held at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Minnehaha County
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the Old Courthouse Museum (200 W 6th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104) in the second floor court room. Reception and a time of fellowship will be held at 1:00 pm at JJ's Wine and Spirits (3000 W 57th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57108.)
