Robert Spade, 78 of rural Dell Rapids, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls. The family will be holding private services.

Robert Spade, son of Floyd Sr. and Ethel (Erickson) Spade, was born on February 6, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in surrounding rural areas and graduated from Hartford High School in 1965. Robert went to begin a career with John Morrell and Company.

Robert entered into service with the United States Army and served during Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. After being honorably discharged, Robert returned to working at John Morrell.

Robert was united in marriage with Linda Bethke on August 11, 1971 in Sioux Falls, SD. He retired from John Morrell in 2009 after more than 40 years of service.

Friendly and helpful, Robert enjoyed maintaining his flower and vegetable gardens. The outdoors was his passion and he spent many hours hunting, fishing, and camping. His true passion was spending time with his family and loved ones.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Linda, Dell Rapids, SD; children Charlene (Ruben) Spade, Davenport, IA, Dawn Spade, Sioux Falls, SD, Lori (Tom) Snetsinger, Sioux Falls, SD, Mat Spade, Sioux Falls, SD; sister Marilyn Hansum, Montrose, SD; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son Mike; brothers Roger and Floyd "Bud" Jr.
