Robert "Bob" William Wilson, 75, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday July 26 at Ava's House Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 21, 1950, in Sioux Falls, Bob was the son of Mary Lee (Klicker) Wheeler and Clayton W. Akin. He spent his early childhood on his grandparents Henry and Thelma Klicker's farm near Wall Lake, where he attended Lake View District #110 Country School. He later attended Parker School in Parker, South Dakota.

Bob moved to Fargo, North Dakota, where he lived with his adoptive father Glen Wilson and attended Ben Franklin Middle School and Fargo North High School. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls in 1968.

Bob was united in marriage to Darla J. Johnson in 1972. In their 22 years of marriage they were blessed with three children: Samuel Wilson, Amanda (Wilson) Denevan, and Kristin (Wilson) Ordanes.

Throughout his career, Bob worked in sales and advertising for KISD Radio, Radio Shack, KELO Radio. He later operated his own carpentry business, continuing his work until his health declined following a stroke. Bob enjoyed spending time at his lake cabin, hunting and fishing and restoring and racing his beloved 1973 Plymouth Road Runner (beep beep).

Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Samuel Wilson (Erin) and Amanda (Wilson) Denevan (Jim), both of Sioux Falls, and Kristin (Wilson) Ordanes of Spring, Texas; his grandchildren Brandon Wilson LeBlond (Alyssa), Makayla Wilson, Lola Lopez Wilson, Evan Wilson (Lauren), Maddi Denevan, and Kori and Joie Ordanes; his siblings Mary Jean Andera (Mike) of Pukwana, SD, Bill Wilson of Sioux Falls, Kathy Lewin (Dan) of West Fargo, ND, and Steve Leckband (Teri) of Aguanga, CA; along with many other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lee Wheeler and Clayton Akin; Adopted father, Glen Wilson, and his grandparents Henry and Thelma Klicker; Mary Adams Akin and Clayton William Akin, Sr.; and his son‑in‑law, Joseph Ordanes.

A Celebration of Life will take place Wednesday July 29 from 5-7pm at the Gateway Lounge at

3408 S Gateway Blvd, Sioux Falls, SD 57106

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Ava's House, Sanford Hospice, Sanford USD Medical Center and for the devoted support of his daughter Amanda.
