"In Loving Memory of Ron Klingenberg

Ronald Dean Klingenberg was born on October 13, 1957, near Melvin, Iowa, to Glenn Klingenberg Sr. and Doris (Larsen) Klingenberg.

Ron attended Adrian High School in Adrian, MN, and went on to Jackson, MN, Vo-Tech,

where he studied plumbing and heating. His education, natural ability, and strong work ethic became the foundation for a lifetime of working with his hands and providing for those he loved.

On June 21, 1980, Ron married Kristie Stickling in Ellsworth, MN and moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Together they built a life filled with family, hard work, laughter, and countless memories. Ron worked at Frisbee’s Plumbing and Heating and the Sioux Falls Stock Yards until 1991..

He and Kristie then made their home building a life together in Colton, SD. There, he began farming and started Klink’s Plumbing and Heating. Whether he was working on a plumbing job, or on the farm, Ron was rarely one to sit still. He took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a hand.

Ron was also a familiar and caring presence in the Colton community. He spent many years involved with the Colton Cadet Boys Club. He loved working and helping others. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and bringing laughter wherever he went.

His true pride and joy were his grandkids. Between the pranks, teasing, and endless laughter, he could often be found cheering them on at dance recitals, gymnastics, and countless sporting events, or chauffeuring them from one activity to the next. He loved having them out on the farm, teaching them the ins and outs of farm life. He was always dreaming up little adventures, creating excursions, and coming up with activities that gave his grandkids memories they will carry with them forever. He had a gift for turning ordinary days into adventures and making sure there was always something fun—or mischievous—to look forward to.

His last moments were spent doing what came so naturally to him: teasing the littles, making them laugh, and soaking up time with the grandchildren he loved so dearly. Those final moments capture Ron perfectly.

He is survived by his wife, Kristie; daughter Jessie Rentschler (AJ) of Colton,SD; son Ross

Klingenberg (Sydney) of Sioux Falls, SD; and grandchildren Easton and Everly Rentschler and Avery and Lucy Klingenberg.

He is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy (Jay) Bolkema of Orange City, IA, Glenn Jr. (Sandy) Klingenberg of Edgerton, MN, Lyle (LeeAnne) Klingenberg of Adrian, MN, and Donna Klingenberg (Aaron Krizik) of Hopkins, MN; sister-in-law Brenda Stickling of Luverne, MN; brothers-in-law Harold (Marilyn) Stickling of Carlock, Ill, and Dale (Diane) Stickling of Bloomington, Ill; as well as many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Doris Klingenberg; his grandson, Witten

Klingenberg; brothers-in-law Gary Stickling, Kenneth Stickling, and Perry Stickling; nephew Drendon Stickling; and grand-nephew Colton Post.

Ron will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of farming, willingness to help others, and especially his ability to make people laugh. He loved his family fiercely and cherished the simple moments spent together. His family and friends will deeply miss his stories, humor and tricks up his sleeve, acts of service, and the way he made life more fun. Though he is deeply missed, the memories he created and lives he touched will live on in all who knew and loved him."
