Ronald Ray Moe, age 77, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on May 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Ron was born on December 30, 1947, in Volga, South Dakota, to Knute and Alma Moe. He spent his early years on the family farm, often rushing through chores so he could hitchhike into town and play baseball—a lifelong passion. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1966.

He was drafted into the Vietnam War, but chose to enlist for an additional year so that he could complete his tour as an electronics specialist. After being honorably discharged from the US Army, he attended Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. While at DSU, Ron met Linda Stephenson. The two were married on September 18th, 1971, and shared over 50 years of love, laughter, and devotion.

Ron began a lifelong career with the United States Postal Service. He started as a carrier and worked his way up to become Postmaster, first in Howard, South Dakota, and later in Madison, where he retired in 2007.

Ron was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and playful sense of humor. He had a way of making everyone feel like a friend and was deeply devoted to his family. Whether it was playing softball with his brother-in-law, nephews, and son, sitting down for a game of cards, or cheering from the stands at his kids' and grandkids' events, he was always present with a smile and a story. He loved to travel, especially if it involved a baseball stadium, good food, and a cold Miller Lite—particularly on trips with his son, Kris.

In February 2007, Ron survived his first major "event". When his twin grandsons were born that July, he was convinced they were the reason he had been given more time. Over the next 17 years, he poured himself into being their teacher, mentor, and biggest fan—sharing his love of antiques, coin and stamp collecting, the art of haggling, and giving them the tools to live life with integrity and purpose.

In 2020, Ron faced another significant event, and not long after, he welcomed his only granddaughter, Millie, into the world. She quickly became the apple of his eye—his bright spot, his joy, and his little girl who could do no wrong.

Ron will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and unshakable loyalty. He had a gift for making friends everywhere he went, and he loved to tease the people he cared for most. His sense of humor and compassionate spirit made him a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ron's legacy is one of love, humor, resilience, and profound generosity.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kris, Marlee Frey (Mike), and Jessica; his grandchildren, Isaiah & Noah Moe, and Millie Frey; his sister, Yvonne Dobrenski, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16th, at Miller Funeral Home – Southside Chapel in Sioux Falls, SD, with Military Honors at 7:00 p.m., followed by a time for sharing with friends and family.
