Roselyn A. McClaren, Sioux Falls, SD, passed away July 14, 2025, at Sanford Ava's House in Sioux Falls. She was 90.

Roselyn Alvina (Fodness) McClaren was born to Martin and Viola (Falstad) Fodness on September 29, 1934.   She was their 7th daughter and had three younger sisters follow.

She grew up on farms, and attended rural grade schools through the 8th grade.   She then attended high school in Trent, SD graduating in 1952.

Roselyn married her high school sweetheart, Robert McClaren on October 21, 1952.  Her husband joined the Navy and they lived in Memphis TN, San Diego, CA and Coronado, CA.  after the Navy they returned to Sioux Falls to live.

Roselyn's jobs outside of the home included clerical duties, retail sales, and Real Estate sales.  She realized her goal to teach when homeschooling her youngest son in 4th and 5th grade, then 10th thru 12th grades.

Her favorite pasttimes was playing board games with her children, and attending their ball games and school programs.  Her interests included gardening, sewing, crafts, decorating and playing bridge.  She served as room Mother in her childrens' classrooms, as well as volunteering in the classrooms.  She was active in Church Women, taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.

Her testimony is that, in later life (1978 to be exact) she realized that God had been knocking on the door of her heart, and she merely had to open it to let Him enter.  Looking back she could see how He was working in her life even when she didn't realize it.

Roselyn is survived by her daughter, Annette, her sons Jay and Jon, two granddaughters, Alexis (Jay) and Maven (Jon)   two sisters Dorothy Anderson and Shirley Ellefson.  She was predeceased by her husband, son Kenneth, parents, sisters  Laverne, Esther, Violet, Delores, Mary, Audrey and her parents first born infant daughter.

The one message she would leave with those who read this is:  don't wait to open that door to the Saving Grace Jesus has for you, if you do not know it today.  Your life will never be the same.    You will understand The peace that passes understanding.

And that she will be waiting to welcome you into eternity "where the roses never fade"….
